Preparing for the Airshow

The 11-th International Airshow will be held at Radom airbase on 29-30 August 2009. The event starts from 9.00 and the gates will be closed at 19.00. The display will start at 10.00 and it will last untill 18.00. The organisers invited many representatives from other Air Forces and aviation industries. The list of participants, for the moment, looks as follows:

Farewell ceremony

On Friday 6-th of February the Commander farewll ceremony took place at the airbase. Col Jerzy Chojnowski who was the Commander since March 2003 was assigned to his new office. He will be the Chief of Training in 4-th Air Wing which was estabilished regarding the Polish Air Force reorganization. 4-th Air Wing will be consisted of 1-st Training Centre from Deblin and 2-nd Training Centre.
Temporarily the Commander of the 2-nd Training Centre will be Lt.Col. Slawomir Karpeta.



Guests at Radom

An interesting visits took place at Radom-Sadkow airbase. On saturday 7-th of June the two F-16`s from 3ELT flew to Radom. They made a nice fly-by and then touch-and-go. After take off fighters flew back to their homebase at Poznan. Another interesting visit was on Thursday evening when Yak-40 performed rehersal flight together with PZL-130 aircrafts. The flights were conducted until late night.



CASA-C295 crash

On 23-rd of January CASA-C295 transport aircraft, belonged to the 13-th Transport Squadron, crashed in the vicinity of the Miroslawiec airbase killing 20 people on board (high-ranked Air Force officers). The crash occured during the landing roll in poor weather conditions.
Among killed soldiers was Col. Jerzy Pilat who was the 1-st Squadron Commander in the 2-nd Training Centre from 2001 to 2004



Inauguration of 2008 training season

On 7-th January 2-nd Training Centre started its new flying season. The celebration took place at the main square. In this event participated vice Commander of the Air Force Academy Col. Marek Bylinka.



Rehersal flights

In the last days of 2007 instructor pilots from 2-nd Training Centre participated in rehersal tactical flights on MiG-29UB and SU-22UM3K. Those flight were introduced into the new teaching course for cadets. Cadets on their last year at the Air Force Academy will fly few practice air-to-air and air-to-ground combat missions at chosen squadrons.



TS-11 jets at Radom

Because of the runway repair at Deblin airbase all training flights on TS-11 Iskra jets were moved to Radom. At Radom landed 23 training aircrafts of that type.
Flights are performed from early morning until late evening.



"Zelazny" team crash at airshow

During the International Airshow two Zlin aircrafts from "Zelazny" team collided while flying arobatic manouvre called "rozeta" very similar to the "cardioid" flown by Frecce Tricolori during their crash at Ramstein in 1989. The debris felt on the ground at the airbase. Two pilots leader-Lech Marchelewski and left wingman-Piotr Banachowicz were killed. Nobody was hurt on the ground. Sunday event has been cancelled.



Orlik TC-II

From 30-th of July pilots from 2OSzL are doing rehearsal flights on new version of the PZL-130. The TC-II. All of the instructors are scheduled to finish 16-hours training course.There two new aircrafts at the moment at the airbase.



Aerobatic Team "Orlik" started flights

The "Orlik" team has started his first rehearsal flights after two years of absence. Because of the economic reasons team activity was suspended. Moreover the team was reduced to 7-ship formation instead of 9. During the Airshow 2007 team members are:

"Ikar 2007"

During the annual training course for the Air Force Instructors Major Jaroslaw Michalski from 2OSzL was awarded with the "Ikar" statue which was given by the Air Force Commander Gen. Andrzej Blasik
